Q & A - Females & Males of the community

There is a very obvious a barrier between the genders and how we communicate that I and others have noticed, and in my effort to not only understand, but to help others, as well as taking suggestion from last year's Q&A to hold another, I am making this panel for those that really need answers and don't know who or what to ask when the opposite gender does something that is hard or difficult to understand. (And also help be less creepy when trying to get someone's attention lol) We are built differently, it's nature, and we sometimes need a translator to help the language barrier that occurs and to aid in understanding what one is going through, and it's great for anyone going through any hardships with someone of the opposite, or even same gender (sometimes we don't understand our own side of things too!). We will have an "anonymous" drop box available for those that want to ask a question but not want to say it out loud. Panel may get emotional as we share a bit about ourselves to help understand one another. We will not tolerate rude, discriminatory or negative behaviour.

Do backgrounds intimidate you? Unsure where to start? The key to mastering backgrounds rests in approaching them as if they were characters. I'll show you ways to break down environments into bite-size concepts through quick lectures and group discussions. I'll provide you solutions for your most frustrating artworks through paint-overs while you watch. Bring your art to the workshop! Bring your laptops, smart devices, sketchbooks and drawing stuff. I'll have a thumb drive and my phone, just in case some of you want me to snap a picture of a sketchbook page and paint over a sketch, but by all means bring the images that are vexing you to me. The best part of this workshop for me will be getting to help you directly.

This panel is targeted for females only to provide a place that feels safe and open. Any that identify as female are more than welcome to attend! +1 is allowed, but no males by themselves, must be with a person that identifies as a girl/woman/female to attend. Gender is more than male/female, it's complicated and fluid. But for the purpose of this panel, the term female does apply to those who may not be, but identify as female and those that are female in general.

For veterans and beginners- Thea will guide a life drawing session with human and suit models showing how to get your gestures down in seconds and draw what you really see rather than what you think you’re seeing. Must bring your own supplies- newsprint and charcoal, conté, or pen with a clipboard is recommended.

Come one, come all! The Atlantean court will be holding its annual Fursuit Games. Suiters and audience members are all welcomed to join in the festivities. Think you've got what it takes to fend off the vicious foxes and wolves? Maybe you're a timid mouse or bunny and today is your day to rise and fight back! Don't let those dragons and avians swoop in and steal your thunder, make them pay with their lives! This year features some old favorites: Hoarders, Hockey (what would a Canadian con be without hockey?), Simon Says, Red-light Green-light. We've also got a new giant twister board this year, come get tangled up in a big ol' pile of furries, and we'll round it off by crowning this years musical chairs champion; long live the king or queen! As always, audience participation may 'inadvertantly' occur and cheating is not only a factor, it's encouraged!

A History of Furries in the Military

A History of Furries in the Military is a powerpoint presentation that covers both the involvement of furries in various world militaries over the course of history as well as features Nando talking about his experiences with other furries over the course of his his tour overseas. This is nothing new in the world, but it's hardly been documented so we're both pretty proud of what we've dug up. Furries should be proud of who they are and the influence they've had on the world, even if we're only becoming aware of it now. This is an unbiased view of war and the military for sake of other people's politics. At the end of the presentation, we'll have an open forum where attendees can ask us questions about our research and experiences.

Crowdsource Kerbal Space Program

The indie game "Kerbal Space Program", with attendee-sourced spacecraft designs, and a hotseat, to allow attendees a likely-hilarious chance to fail spectacularly at flying a star-shaped spaceplane, or an upside-down rocket.

Flash Fiction Jam

Bring your writing utensils and put your skills to the test: we throw out a writing prompt, and give attendees a few minutes to produce a story based on that prompt. Then we share the results, usually to general hilarity. It's a fun couple of hours and a chance to stretch your writing talents through time pressure and surprise topics!
