Vancoufur has welcomed furries and friends who have not been to a convention before. There are guidelines to make it through a 4-day event accompanied with different awes and surprises. Come discover the basics of DJing! So. You want to be a DJ? The very hardest part of this hobby is just getting started. And hey- I know. I remember what it was like. I remember what it was like to not even know what basic software to use. What beginner equipment to buy. What the heck all these different genres were. I remember what it was like to see these awesome performers in the fandom and wonder- How? The pool is deep and dark, but we're here to help you make that all important first step in. In this panel, we will be doing our very best to help you embark on what may be a lifelong and very rewarding journey. We want to leave you well equipped when you leave to immediately do the hardest part- Get started. Who's we? My name is Ember and it wasn't so long ago that I was in your shoes. At this point, I've been a fandom DJ for about 4 years, slowly moving from my own bedroom to houseparties and finally to the stage. Let me be your guide. My accomplice in this you may have heard of. His name is Akonite and he carries with him over a decade of DJ knowledge. He's played in a headliner role at Anthrocon. He's old school and has god damned technique and a wealth of knowledge. He also happens to be Vancoufur's Conchair, if you didn't know. Come out. Get started. Earn your place.

Red-lining is an art critiquing method where the work of one artist is drawn over-top of by peers or mentors in order to clearly show areas of improvement. This is a session of live red-lining offered to attendee-submitted artwork.

New to the convention? Get to know many furs and their friends in a short period of time. Join in a meet and greet that is done a lot. Similar to Speed dating, speed networking. Also learn to improve your networking skills talking to individuals you have not met.

THIS PANEL IS CANCELLED DUE TO SPEAKER CANCELLATION Come take a step beyond our beginner panel and learn some more skills in DJing. Including beatmatching, different mixing styles, mixing in key, Using CD tables, samples and more!

An introductory panel discussing some of the basic do's and don't's of writing professional poetry. Much of the discussion will focus on free-form poetry, rather than examining specific forms. The panel and poems promise to be much more eloquent than the event description.

It happens every year, well, most of the time. Ham radio is a licensed (mostly) hobby persuing a better understanding of radio technology. From crystal controlled vacume tube boat anchors, to digital radio and software defined radio, from sitting at home chatting with friends around the world to finding things in the woods, theres something for everyone. Bring cool stuff, great stories and awesome ideas.

Covering absolute basics, techniques and methods, including how to modify commercial patterns and how to draft your own from just measurements.

Art and creativity comes in all forms, including air filled! Come and meet furs with enthusiasm for vinyl and latex inflatable creatures and items in a free-form, show-what-you-brought meet and greet! Many custom creations will be showcased, including items designed by the furs who attend. Photos are welcome and encouraged. Come and learn about custom designs, repair methods, silk screen printing, and many other topics. PLEASE NOTE: No sharp objects or metal accessories are allowed near these fragile and expensive items.

Advice on working with builders to have a good experience and get a fursuit that you can be happy with. Also tips on buying and selling pre-made fursuits.

We will discuss the finer points of commenting and critiquing: what makes a critique effective; what to say, and when; how to recognize appropriate situations for constructive feedback. Please note, this panel is not restricted to Visual Artwork.

Tips and tricks for how to keep your fursuit looking (and smelling) better, lasting longer, and in great shape for a long time. Beware the bathtub cocktail!

All this rage about RTL-SDR, you might have heard about it, here we will be discussing it. Get an idea how to get started with software defined radio in this presentation of some of the highlights of the SDR arena. Host will provide a limited number of RTL dongles at cost.

How to commission, different types of transactions (business like, casual, popular artists) - what to look for, what to expect in certain situations (when an artist has a large queue, when an artist puts you on a waiting list, etc.) and some tips and tricks on how to get slotted with the best of the best artists who take limited slots or rarely take commissions. Also, some 'do-s' and 'don't-s' when you are in the middle of art commissions, and some important steps on how to protect yourself when you are sending strangers money for art.
