It is highly advised to sign up in advance. Note: Even if you sign up online you must be at the prelims from on Friday. PRELIMINARIES Prelims will be held in the Main Ballroom on Friday October 26th at 4pm. Everyone that wishes to compete must attend the prelims. We advise showing up 15 minutes early so we can start on time. Please bring your music on a flash drive or CD so we can rip the song onto the laptop the music will be played from. Even if you emailed your song ahead of time, bring a hard copy just in case. The prelims will be closed to the public, we ask that you don’t even bring a handler unless you believe it necessary. Most folks will be headless when not trying out. We will have water and staff to help you if you need it. We will have 18 final slots for the dance completion. If 18 or fewer acts try out we will not be making cuts and will instead use the time to allow each competitor to dance on the stage and get feedback from the prelim judges. If more than 18 acts try out we will be having cuts. In that case you will have to perform at least 1:30 of your routine for our prelim judges. These judges will be completely different than our finals judges, so you don’t have to worry about spoiling anything. The prelim judges will then use the same scoring style as the finals judges to rank those trying out. The top 18 will then make it into the competition. ENTRIES AND SONG CHOICES Group entries will be allowed in. In the case of 3 or more group entries making it into the competition, there will be a separate category for groups. Groups will be given an extra 30 sec for their song length for every extra person, up to 4 minutes. Example: A three person group could dance for up to 3 minutes (2min+30sec+30sec) For all solo entries your song can not exceed 2 minutes in length. If you do not cut your song at 2 minutes the DJ will fade it out. Your song must be appropriate for a PG-13 audience. Please no swears, inappropriate language or themes, slurs or excessive sexual undertones. There will be people in the audience of all ages, please keep that in mind. QUALIFYING FURSUITS A qualifying fursuit consists of a fursuit head, hand paws, feet paws and a tail (species pending). You are also of course welcome to wear your full suit is you have a full suit, plantigrade or digigrade. Quadsuits of course will also be welcome. FINALS If you have gotten through to the finals, you must meet in the Headless Lounge at 4:30pm, NO LATER. Please feel free to show up earlier than that as you can always de-head and get some water. The show begins at 5pm, meaning the first act goes out moments after 5pm so everyone needs to be there. The order will be announced at 4:40pm when you arrive and we’ll have it on a sheet out back so you can remind yourself. All finalists will perform their piece, receive verbal judging, and then at the end, all finalists will be welcomed back out on stage for a fun freestyle dance with everyone else to entertain the crowd while judges tally votes. SCORING Judges will take into consideration every dancers musicality, originality, technicality, crowd appeal and overall performance. They will then place competitors in slots 1-18 as the competition moves on until they have a full placement from 1st to 18th at the end. The places everyone gets from each judge will then be added up and the folks with the 3 lowest scores will get 1st, 2nd and 3rd (think golf scoring system.) Example: Bob’s performance scores a 5th, 7th, and 4th place slot from the 3 judges. Totaled together that’s 16 points. If Sally received 2nd, 5th, and 3rd place slots she’d get 10 points and thus would beat out Bob. WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST OF LUCK

6:00pm - 7:00pm Panel Room 2: Middlesex (2nd floor)

The player is instructed by the in-game police squad to watch live surveillance footage of the Martin household and trigger traps to capture anyone that is seen endangering the house guests. Cameras are situated in eight locations in and around the house: the entryway, living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, driveway, and two hallways. A map is available as well so the player can see how the rooms are connected. The player can freely switch between viewing the different cameras to keep up with house activities and pick up clues from conversations. Kelli, an undercover agent, will also provide clues to the player. The player must avoid trapping her, any other agent, or the house guests. When someone is within range of a trap, a sensor bar will move into a red zone. Activating the trap at this moment will capture them. If the trap is activated when the bar is not in the red zone, the trap will not work and will become disabled for a short period of time. The traps will also only work if the access code is correct. There are six possible access codes, and the player must eavesdrop into the conversations to find out when the Martins change the code. When a new code is learned, the player must wait until the speaker leaves the room before changing the access code to the correct color to maintain control of the traps. Counters on the screen indicate how many perpetrators have entered the house and how many have been captured.

Costumes and acts may be subject to alteration, or rejected at the Masquerade Staff’s discretion. Individual or group performances are both welcome to perform. The act you perform during Saturday night’s show must match the act you presented at rehearsal. Drastic deviations, outbursts, obscenities, or inappropriate behavior will result in an immediate halt of your act, and may result in a ban from future Masquerades as well as possible disciplinary action and public embarrassment. LENGTH OF ACTS The length of each act is limited to a maximum of 4 minutes. If your music or act is longer than the stated limit, please contact the Masquerade Department and we’ll do our best to work with you. AUDIO AND STAGE REQUIREMENTS If your act is using pre-recorded audio or music, you must bring it with you to the Saturday morning rehearsal (this is the ONLY time we will accept audio files or CD’s). Any music should be on a single track Audio CD or on a CD or Flash Drive in MP3 or WAV format. Make sure to label your CD or Flash Drive with your name and the track to be used (we HIGHLY recommend you have just one track or file on your Masquerade CD or flash drive to assure the Sound crew plays the proper track). Mark your CDs with markers, not adhesive labels. We also recommend you bring additional copies of your music in case the original is lost or damaged. You are responsible for bringing your own materials, props, costumes, and music. Please do not create elaborate props that are fragile, take a long time to set up/break down, or are overly large. If you need helpers, please try to recruit your own. Microphones, stands, booms, chairs, tables, a podium, and an easel will be available for stage use. Special requests such as unusual staging requirements or equipment requests may, or may not be honored depending on staff or equipment availability, safety, or compatibility. Ask in advance! JUDGING Furpocalypse’s Masquerades are judged by panel, winners will be honored at the end of the show. Acts will be judged on originality, execution, audience response, as well as swag points.

The Last Howl: Costume & Pizza Afterparty

8:00pm - 11:59pm The Zoo: Gardens
Don't let the con end like every one of your failed relationships! Don't just mope around Sunday night, sniffling tearfully, your face and hands smeared with what we're assuming is chocolate. There's a BIG Halloween costume party in the Atrium Zoo! Wear your suits, hoods, masks, and costumes! Hangout, draw, game, and chill with friends! Music at one end loud enough to dance, but low enough so you can still talk at your table! Eat pizza and candy like a 5 year old (without shame or concern for your own safety)!  There'll be... -- Pizza! -- Costume Competition! -- Art Competition! -- Worst Dance Competition! -- Cheap meaningless prizes! -- "Fun" (or an incredible simulation) Party starts at 8pm and ends when we fish the last fursuit out of the pool! You can end this con when you pry it from our cold, undead hands! Hosted by: Captain Fatbeard & the Crew of the Jolly Handy
