So you're a beginner interested in Amateur Radio... or maybe you're a long-time operator who wants to meet fellow furries in the field... or perhaps you fall somewhere in the middle? Ask yourself, do you want to get a chance to ask those burning technical questions to a panel of long-time radio operators and examiners? Want to get hands-on and a chance to handle various types of Amateur Radio gear and technology? No matter where you are on the experience spectrum, if you answered yes to the above questions, then you should come out to our Ham Furs Amateur Radio Q&A Session at Anthrocon! Based on the great audience questions we had at last year's meet-and-greet panel, we've slightly restructured our panel this year to offer an official Q&A session in addition to show-and-tell. Our team of Volunteer Examiners will be on hand before the FCC Amateur Radio Exam to answer your questions about anything from basics of Radio Frequency operations, to specific how-to for today's technology. Our panel has a combined 40+ years of RF, Engineering, and IT/Cybersecurity experience to draw on, and is happy to talk about our nerdiest hobby. "Welcome to the team! So today is your first day at the SCP foundation? Trainees will join Dr. Groening (Puzz) for your initial introduction you the SCP foundation. The foundation's mission statement is to Secure, Contain, and Protect anomalous items, ideas, and lifeforms. Often the only thing that protects the non-anomalous from the anomalous (and vice-versa) is a lack of knowledge, so secrecy is of utmost importance! We will discuss the mission of the SCP foundation, discuss notable anomalies, and do our best to keep as many of our trainees as possible safe from losing all threads of sanity in the process. Amnestics will be provided for trainees who wish to leave the program."

Our furry team of FCC-authorized proctors can provide all elements of the FCC amateur radio exam, up to the Amateur Extra level. Regardless of which level(s) of exam you take, there is a required exam fee of $15.00 (we can accept cash or Venmo) to cover our Exam Coordinator's (ARRL) fees. Re-tests are time-limited and require an additional $15.00 fee. The Wonderful Wagging World of Pet Play 101 (18+)
This class will begin with covering the basics of Petplay; which is usually described as, but not limited to, a person who enjoys "becoming" an animal. The class will include a run down of ways to define petplay, a brief history, the mental and physical equipment to bring to the scene, as well as a summary of a petplay scene from the starting line of negotiations to the finish line and aftercare. Whether this is your first taste and have no idea what your getting yourself into (a world of fun, I assure you) or an experienced animal or handler looking for some new ideas and tricks, there will be something here for you. This panel will consist of a guided warm up, a short lecture/demonstration and (mostly) time for exploration/practice. This session is meant for furry educators of all experience levels who want to enhance their teaching skills and improve the effectiveness of their classes. We’ll look at educational approaches that have been successful within the furry community, as well as research-supported practices that have good furry potential. The desired outcome of this course is that participants will begin to formulate and/or refine their teaching philosophy and pedagogy so that their future furry teaching efforts are improved. In the game of Diplomacy you will take control of one of the 7 great powers in Europe during World War 1 with the objective to conquer the most strategic supply centers in a given amount of time/turns. But here's the catch, all units you control have a strength value of 1 and you must have a higher attack value to dislodge other players' units in their territory meaning you will likely need to secure support from another nation to complete your conquests. That is where the "Diplomacy" comes in as you will negotiate for support, alliances, establish demilitarized zones, or even stab former allies in the back to secure your objectives and the best part of the game is anything you say or "agree" upon with another player is non-binding.

You are part of an expedition, ordered by Poseidon to investigate the wreck and recover what remains of its cargo. But as you prepare to swim into the depths, you begin to wonder: What really happened to The Fleet and why do the fishermen refuse to sail near the site?

📋 Fursuit Parade Signup - Friday 📋
The number of participants in the parade will be limited, and as such, all participants must be pre-approved. You must either wear or bring the costume that you intend to wear in the parade, or alternatively a photo that shows all elements of the costume, to the registration point outside of Room 309 on Friday between 3 pm and 9 pm, or on Saturday from 9 am until 12 pm . We cannot register any participants after 12 pm on Saturday. Parade Rules All participants must have a costume that is “anthropomorphic” in nature. The parade is not for general cosplay. (i.e. the addition of ears to existing costume armor does not qualify for participation in the parade.) Full-body fursuits are encouraged. Partial fursuits must incorporate additional elements in addition to a head, hands, and (optional) tail (these at the wearer’s discretion based upon their interpretation of the species/character). Examples include: footpaws, sleeves or leggings, or other costume features that define the character. No human skin should be showing. All clothing and costume elements must conform to the Anthrocon Standards of Conduct. Handlers will be permitted to assist with the donning and preparation of a costume in the staging area ; however, handlers will not be permitted to walk in the parade. Exceptions will be made for handlers who are assisting performers with mobility challenges and participants under the age of 13 who need a parent or guardian to accompany them. Due to the nature of the parade lineup area, the presence of escalators on the parade route, and other aspects of the parade, Anthrocon strongly recommends that fursuiters whose costume design requires a handler (i.e. an oversized or overly bulky suit) should opt to participate in the Block Party as an alternative to the parade. Even if a costume has been pre-approved, any costume that is determined not to meet these standards at parade time will not be allowed to participate . Any elements that are in violation of our standards of contact (examples: tactical gear, fetish wear, etc.) are not permitted in the parade. Individuals causing disruption or interference with parade operations may be refused participation as well as face revocation of convention membership. All fursuiters must hydrate before the fursuit parade. It’s for your own safety! No stopping in the parade route - we require fursuiters to continue moving in the parade except in case of emergency. Staff and volunteers are positioned along the route should you require assistance. Flags affixed to flagpoles are not allowed. Flags that are hand carried or worn (such as a cape) that abide by our Standards of Conduct are allowed. People with ADA accessibility needs or young children are permitted handlers. No photography or video is allowed inside the lineup area. This includes selfies whether handheld or on selfie-stick. We understand that these changes may not be universally popular and we want our attendees to know that these decisions were not made lightly. As both the convention and parade reach unprecedented levels of attendance and participation, it has become necessary to implement these new rules to keep the parade safe for all attendees. We are confident that the Fursuit Parade and Block Party will continue to provide a unique and wonderful experience for Anthrocon attendees and Pittsburgh citizens alike.

Puppet Workshop: Bird Marionettes
Join us for an intermediate level puppet fabrication workshop making fun dancing BIRD marionettes! The panel will have supplies for 20 participants, and supplies will be provided on a first come first serve basis. Participants must be comfortable working with hot glue. Puppet Workshop: Parade Puppet
Join us for an advanced puppet fabrication workshop making a giant parade puppet! This large group puppet will be performed in the Fursuit Parade on Saturday! The panel will provide supplies for the construction of a 5 segment Sea Monster to match the year’s theme (the parade puppet will be different EVERY YEAR). The number of participants in the parade will be limited, and as such, all participants must be pre-approved. You must either wear or bring the costume that you intend to wear in the parade, or alternatively a photo that shows all elements of the costume, to the registration point outside of Room 309 on Friday between 3 pm and 9 pm, or on Saturday from 9 am until 12 pm . We cannot register any participants after 12 pm on Saturday. Parade Rules All participants must have a costume that is “anthropomorphic” in nature. The parade is not for general cosplay. (i.e. the addition of ears to existing costume armor does not qualify for participation in the parade.) Full-body fursuits are encouraged. Handlers will be permitted to assist with the donning and preparation of a costume in the staging area ; however, handlers will not be permitted to walk in the parade. Exceptions will be made for handlers who are assisting performers with mobility challenges and participants under the age of 13 who need a parent or guardian to accompany them. Due to the nature of the parade lineup area, the presence of escalators on the parade route, and other aspects of the parade, Anthrocon strongly recommends that fursuiters whose costume design requires a handler (i.e. an oversized or overly bulky suit) should opt to participate in the Block Party as an alternative to the parade. Even if a costume has been pre-approved, any costume that is determined not to meet these standards at parade time will not be allowed to participate . Any elements that are in violation of our standards of contact (examples: tactical gear, fetish wear, etc.) are not permitted in the parade. Individuals causing disruption or interference with parade operations may be refused participation as well as face revocation of convention membership. Then YOU need to learn about the 25 year old GPS game that takes place in almost every country across the globe! Come learn about the amazing outdoor hobby that is Geocaching and meet other furries in geocaching! Come listen to Kidd explain what the hobby is, why it's perfectly made for furries, and hear her share some of her craziest cache adventures. Afterwards, come socialize with other furs, exchange accounts ( and stickers ), log trackables, and sign/stickerbomb our "con cache!" At the end of the event we will be handing out attendance goodies, take a group photo, and the presentation will be uploaded here! I'm incredibly excited to see everyone there!
Puppet Workshop: Hand Puppets
Join us for a beginner level puppet fabrication workshop making simple hand puppets with loads of personality! The panel will have supplies for 25 participants, and supplies will be provided on a first come first serve basis. Participants must be comfortable working with scissors and hot glue, but no other experience is required! Young children should be accompanied by a helpful adult guardian for maximum fun! Once we've finished creating our new puppets we'll start to explore some performance and character basics!

We’ve invited these artists back to our room, for a group experience that is wholly our own. “Room Party” is an exhibition of work by over 50 contemporary furry artists, running June 6th – July 18th July at Bunker Projects in Pittsburgh. Join the curators (Lane Linecum, Brett Hanover, Paul Peng, and Cass Dickenson) and artists (panel participants TBD) for a look behind the scenes at the development of this exciting show! What does it take to put on a large-scale group art show? What happens when furries invade the fine art world? What’s next for furry art, and why does it matter now? Why is there a pile of plushies in the white cube? All your artsy-fartsy questions will be answered!
Self-Expression and Authenticity in the Furry Fandom
Have you ever felt like being around others is awkward because you have to 'play a role' that isn't you? Have you ever felt like some part(s) of you that are longing to be expressed, but can't safely be shown to others? Have you felt 'wrong' or 'broken' in your body, identity, or sense of self? This is a panel about finding authenticity. It will discuss ways to do this, through several lenses common in the fandom, such as gender, neurodivergence, and disability. It is hoped that this panel will spark a discussion about finding acceptance from both others and oneself, and inspire us to be better at both seeking support and providing it for others. Through this, it is hoped that we can do better as a fandom, both for all the diverse people within it and for ourselves.

The Snoof is a fun and free puppet pattern pioneered by Adam Kreutinger. This is an advanced beginners workshop for eager puppeteers looking to make a fuzzy hand puppet of their very own! This panel will have supplies for 20 participants and will require some sewing experience and the ability to work with hot glue guns. All children need to work with an adult guardian, as this puppet requires the use of needles, scissors, and hot glue. 85 years at Chicon, the 2nd Worldcon in 1940, a female costume maker known by the alias Morojo opened up her room, 689 in the Hotel Chicagoan, as a changing room for the first Costume Masquerade. Avian Worldbuilding
Building an immersive world for your readers involves balancing realism with relatability. Birds are particularly challenging because their anatomy and lifestyle is so different from our own. I will discuss my challenges in developing worlds for both anthro and feral avian characters, share my experiences, and invite the audience to share their questions and comments. I've written many short stories and three novels, including the new Avian Age series, involving a variety of avian world settings.

Astronofurs Star Party
Join us Saturday evening at the AstronoFurs Star Party, from 9:30pm to Midnight, up on the North Terrace overlooking the Allegheny River for a night under the stars. The Moon will be visible, just passed first quarter, offering breathtaking views of its cratered surface along the “transition line.” The planet Mars should also be visible in the western skies through the waning twilight and urban light pollution. As darkness overtakes Anthrocon, we’ll showcase the double-stars Albireo, Epsilon Lyra – The Double Double, and Zeta Ursa Major – Mizar and Alcor. We’ll also attempt to provide views of the “Coat Hanger” asterism in Vupecula. Bring your sense of wonder and curiosity, and we’ll provide the rest. Want to bring your own telescope or binoculars? We’ll make room. There are plenty of objects to observe and share. Tying The Knot - Basic Rope Rigging for Furries
Believe it or not, this is a 100% Safe-For-Work panel... In fact, safety while working is the bottom line when it comes to this topic! This interactive panel is for all those who want to learn the absolute basics of ropes, rigging, and the various types of rope and equipment used in the fire/rescue services. We'll be examining rope access equipment and basics from an absolute beginner perspective, including: Discussing basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needed for rope rigging; Discussing the various types of rope/webbing, their uses, and safety considerations; Practicing how to properly tie some of the basic knots (figure 8, overhand, water knot) used in the fire service; Demonstrating how ropes can be used to construct basic mechanical advantage haul systems to move a load from one point to another; and having an opportunity to examine, handle, and ask questions about equipment used by rope technicians, tower climbers, firefighters, and other rope access personnel. Attendees are welcome to come and only observe, however any attendee who handles equipment or participates will be required to don appropriate provided PPE (Gloves, Safety Glasses). While not required, long sleeves and pants are encouraged. Disclaimer: This panel is NOT sufficient training to attempt low, intermediate, or high angle rope work or to construct haul systems for overhead/life-safety lifting. Mastering these techniques requires specific training. Work with a professional to confirm your ability to perform these techniques safely and independently before attempting them unsupervised. wolfears
wolfears (stylized all lowercase) is the solo project of independent DIY musician ceej wolf (they/she/it). Started in 2024, ceej began to play room shows at furry conventions with just an acoustic guitar and some twee pop tunes. Only a year later, they released their debut record “WOLFPACK” as well as an EP “BE KIND REWIND”. A proud therian, the core of their songs relate to dissatisfaction with humanity, transgender dysphoria and queer joy. From post-punk to indietronica, wolfears covers all the bases. With this new four-piece live band lineup, they’ll be playing songs from their earlier work as well as new arrangements from “WOLFPACK”.
